Re: Cloud Types
I was a Met Observer for 7 years and attended a weeks course at the Met Office collage in Reading to train and that wasn't part of anything I used or was told. The description "rain bearing cloud" is the correct one IMHO as you can't always tell that there's precipitation falling from the ...

Re: Website help
Before you get too much further with your project, may I suggest having a look at the PHP version of the Carterlake templates? There is a " World " version which has some UK based stuff like earthquake & buoy data and it's easier to configure & add new pages. You can use the basics...

Re: Weather Warning
It's going to be quite nasty in the Hebrides, though. Steve It was. Highest gust was 98mph here with sustained winds of over 75mph for around 2 hours. The station at the Eoropie, near the Butt of Lewis, registered a 109mph gust and there was a house up that way that had it's windows blow in...

Re: WS 2305 - 11
Hi Erik,
I extended the cable between the console & the sensor pack on my WS2300 by about 10m and it works fine.
I think I'm right in saying that you need 'straight' cable (not crossover) with RJ11 connectors on the ends.

Re: Cumulus Banner
Not a problem: http://www.scottishweather.net/images/Cumulus_banner.jpg It's worth a mention that I made the banner as I hadn't seen any for Cumulus. After putting the first one on here I was having a look through Kevin's (TNETWeather) website and he also has some on there if you fancy a different o...

Cumulus Banner
I had a little free time today so I had a play around in PhotoShop and came up with a Cumulus Banner.

Re: Newbie questions
For the relative pressure then you're quite lucky that you have at least 3 stations close to you to take the measurement from and compare. Re: Wild excursions in readings from WS2300
I know that the wired WS2300 has been known to suffer from spikes in the wind data when using Weather Display and this is caused by the unshielded cable between the sensor pack & the anemometer. Changing this cable for CAT5 will normally cure it. I'm wondering if Cumulus is getting the same sort...

Re: rain gauges
Hi John, Thanks for the info, I also put the wrong COM port into the setup the first time and thought I'd add this into the thread. I found that if you open the cumulus.ini file within the program folder then you can change it to the correct COM port in there without uninstalling the program, unless...

Re: Data Logger Error with 1.8.3 & WS2300
Yep, that got it sorted, just updated to 1.8.4 and the download ran without a hitch.
Is there any way of deleting the bugreport from this thread?

Data Logger Error with 1.8.3 & WS2300
Hi Steve, I know you're working on 1.8.4 at the moment so this maybe fixed but I thought I'd report it anyway. If Cumulus has been closed for over 24 hours and I restart, it starts downloading the data from my WS2300 datalogger but I get an error before it's completed the download. As it works fine ...
