Re: Australian weather radar gadget.

Tried it out here in Queensland and have had no problems with it. Wrong, now my wife, the weather guru, has seen it she wants it too.
Good work\

Hi
If I do not get blown away I will see if I can get similar picture of cyclone yasi. My main concern at the moment is still ahving a roof over my head after the cyclone hits, but if I have time I will take some pictures.

Re: Help! My computer blew up!

Hi Unfortunately at this time in Queensland dust is not our major problem. Seriously moisture is one of the biggest killers here. We were not in the floods, but with the high humidity my wife's laptop died, cost me a fortune for a replacement, my hard drive had a dummy spit and had to be replaced an...

Re: Updated: Wind direction indicator - tail mods plus some Q's

I think I am like most people who have got into watching and predicting the weather with the advent of cheaper weather startions with obvious problems with accuracy and repeatability, but if accuracy of wind direction is a major concern then I think that you must spend more on a professional wind di...

Re: Lost Sensor Contact!!

Hi just got home from ANZAC Day ceremony and not in the right condition to comment on the latest problems, but I will sleep on them and see what they look like in the cold hard day of mid north Queensland tomorrow. All have a good day.

Re: Lost Sensor Contact!!

Hi Gina
You finding that the problem was interference induced into a long cable will be usefull for any of us who are contemplating major extensions to the signal cables. Will save a lot of work and frustration by using earthed shielded cable for everyone else. Congratulations.

Re: Lost Sensor Contact!!

Hi Gina When I suggested earthing the pole I think my idea of earthing and yours were quite different. I am not suggesting that the lack of a better earth than you suggested is the reason for your problem, but only saying that an earth may not be an earth as far as RF interfernece is concerned. I no...

Re: Lost Sensor Contact!!

Hi Gina It is is difficult to tell from your photographs, but is your mast effectively earthed? Even dry wind over the mast can build up a static charge, and when it reaches a critical level discharges to earth causing a spike of RF interference if the mast is not effectively earthed. This adventure...

Re: Ambient Weather WS-1080

After too many years to contemplate I have yet to see a lightning arrester that will protect electronic equipment from a nearby lightning strike. The energy to be dissipated cannot be handled by the normal lightning arrester. They should more correctly be renamed surge arresters as they cannot prote...

Re: problem with gauges page on the web

When I first went to your site this morning I also got the code displayed and not the temp values on the external temp gauge. It then came good and it nolonger displayed the code, but displayed correct info on all gauges.

Re: WH 1081 current price at Maplins

Hi I do not know about a data logger, but the WH1081 I purchased in Australia has memory storage for 4000 odd lines of data. When memory fills it starts overwriting the earliest entries. The WH1081 does not have the DCF, which wouldn't be much good to us is the southern hemisphere anyway. I have onl...
