Re: Wind speeds

I am sorry that I have not contributed to this topic for some time. Basically the problem is that wind gust speeds in CumulusMX output often don't appear in the signal "#latest". As I use Weather Display which only has two inputs for wind, i.e instantaneous wind and average I had to find a...

Re: Wind speeds

I use the CumulusMx Extra Web files to create a file called myrealtime.txt which contains my meteorological parameters including #wlatest for instantaneous wind speed and #wspeed for average wind speed. I have looked at #wgust but it remains at the last gust speed for I think the previous 10 minutes...

Re: Wind speeds

Thank you for that additional information. Not sure that I want to change the period between peak gust measurements, all I really want to do is to get the peak gust to appear in #wlatest. Weather Display does this quite nicely if it is being used to decode the signals from scratch but CumulusMX seem...

Re: Wind speeds

That's a good point, Mark. I'll get onto Instromet and see how often the samples are generated. The only other evidence I have is the analogue read-out from the wind on the dial - this reads the data directly and it is that which makes me doubt that we are seeing the correct values. (It often tends ...

Re: Wind speeds

Hello Mark, Yes, I do believe that my system is logging the wind data once per second. That is what surprises me - I would have thought that would guarantee that gusts were not missed, since as you say according to the WMO definition it's the maximum average speed over any 3 seconds. If I could work...

Re: Wind speeds

Thank you David for the information. I had not noticed (until this morning the parameter for maximum wind gust of the day #wgustTM). That could be a great help. However I output my wind speeds (and all other significant weather parameters) to a database and it is necessary that when a gust occurs it...

Re: Wind speeds

Thanks for your reply. I've tried substituting #wgust instead of #wlatest. Unfortunately #gust remains at the last high reading and so does not change. So the current wind speed as shown by #wgust remains constant at whatever was the last high gust. I don't know for how long this remains at the last...

Re: Wind speeds

Thanks for your reply.
According to Mark #wgust is something to do with Davis stations. He said that #wlatest should get the right answer. OK I'll change to #wgust and see if that solves it.

Wind speeds

I have noticed an annoying problem with the version of CumulusMX(build3053) I am using. We have had a lot of wind of late and frequently I notice on the dashboard under wind speeds the gust high shows a much higher wind speed than the value which appears using #wlatest. For example the highest value...

Re: Dashboard won't load after upgrade

Strange to relate, I updated my version of Ubuntu Linux 18.04 this morning, and the dashboard missing problem has gone away. All pages are displaying correctly. So it appears that mono has been changed again and this time to good effect.

Re: Dashboard won't load after upgrade

It looks as as if I have found out about this problem too late. I will have to find out if it's possible to get an earlier version of mono and install that. I did not realise at the time what was causing the strange effects. Now I have another problem. Normally when I want to look at the dashboard I...

CumulusMX questions

I notice that the dashboard shows average wind speeds, but I can see no reference to this being made available in Cumuluswebtags.txt. This would be very useful to me, as would the ability to edit monthly rainfall and monthly or daily sunshine hours.

Re: Problems with CumulusMX/Instromet

Ok my CumulusMX is working well. But I have a few questions. This morning I had occasion to disconnect the serial connection, so I stopped CumulusMx, switched off the power and made the circuit change. When I powered up again, the sunshine total for today was about -44 hours. OK, I probably caused t...

Re: Problems with CumulusMX/Instromet

OK, Mark, thanks for your help. My system is now producing a real time file. At the moment I have it reading out the data every 60 seconds, but I do want the data to be as near as possible to real time. What's the lowest practical number of seconds between updates using CumulusMX? I imagine it's abo...

Re: Problems with CumulusMX/Instromet

OK Mark, I have attached my Cumulus.ini file. I hope that helps.
