Re: Fine Offset anemometer repair

Hi Folks, The anemometer wind cups on my old FineOffset have become very weathered over the years and realising that some day in the not too distant future I would check the weather pole and the cups would be AWOL so I decided to have a go at making replacement cups. I made up a female mould and a m...

Re: HP1000 Fine Offset no update to WU

I realise that this query is a bit off topic but I have a question re the HP1000 and its WiFi connection.

Is it possible for the HP1000 to WiFi connect to my local WiFi router and then provide weather information to Cumulus on my local PC. Or is the WiFi connection only to WU.

Regards,

Darcy

Re: I wish Cumulus would be LINUX compatible.

Hi Folks,
Now that support for XP is finished has any one tried RoboLinux with XP in its VM runing a FineOffset station and the Cumulus data manager?

Thanks,

Re: Placing a webcam and other peoples' privacy

Hi Folks, Have been reading this topic with interest as my webcam faces on to a footpath and road and some houses over the other side. I use Dorgem webcam (free version) and it allows for a time/date stamp to be positioned on the webcam picture and I have positioned it so it blanks out the houses on...

Re: Solar power for sensors

Hi Greg, Some months ago I fitted a single solar panel from a garden light to the WH-1081 and I just recently checked the voltage of the 2 1000 ma NiMh AA batteries and measured 2.56 V DC so I can only assume that all is working well. Our winters are mild but with some nights getting down to minus 5...

Router settings for weather updates

I would be interested to know of router settings for a Linksys 4 port router (wireless disabled) using PPPoE/DSL particularly: MTU manual or MTU Auto. Is a manual MTU value better than Auto? Connect on Demand - Max Idle Time value?, or Keep Alive - Redial Period value? Thanks, http://dcurrey.actewag...

Re: Rain Gauge

Hi Folks, I also had a stack of false rain readings from the Fine Offset 1081 and even though I have it mounted up on a pole where it is susceptible to movement from the wind I had not experienced such a high reading of false rain. Anyway swung the pole down and pulled the lid off the rain gauge and...

Fine Offset WH1080 and WH1081

Hi Folks, Is there a specific forum some where for the weather stations produced by Fine Offset (WH1080 and WH1081) and sold by Watson, Maplin, National Geographic, Jaycar, Altronics, and others that discusses problems, glitches, and improvements for this weather station. WH1080 link: http://www.fos...

Re: External power

http://dcurrey.actewagl.net.au/web/Solar%20Charger.htm The solar cell panel is 60mm x 60mm in size and are common in solar garden lights in Oz. The maximum open circuit voltage I have seen from it is 4 vdc I chose NiMh batteries (nominal voltage of 1.2 vdc) because NiMh batteries have almost no Memo...
