Re: sound interaction

Not sure if this will do exactly what you need but this software allows the use of trigger noises to launch external programs. It doesn't say if multiple triggers can be configured but I'm sure the author will advise:

Re: FTP issue - think it is my fault

Bingo! Found out what the issue was. For the sake of anyone else searching for the same issue, here is the solution for my problem. It seems when you set a static IP address on the pi, you also have to set the DNS server in a file called /etc/resolvconf.conf So, I simply replaced 127.0.0.1 with my r...

Re: FTP issue - think it is my fault

Thanks Simon. This is what the sources.list file contains: "deb http://mirrordirector.raspbian.org/raspbian/ wheezy main contrib non-free rpi deb http://download.mono-project.com/repo/debian wheezy/snapshots/4.0.5.1/. main # Uncomment line below then 'apt-get update' to enable 'apt-get source' #deb-...

FTP issue - think it is my fault

As of Sunday morning at 4.00am, my Pi has stopped updating my website. MXDiags log is reporting "Error connecting ftp - Could not resolve host 'ftp.menstonweather.co.uk' ". Now, I was having a problem with not being able to resolve my Pi name on my internal network and it seems this was caused by th...

Re: Lost some navigation buttons - anybody seen them?

Thanks Mark. I can see what you refer to when I inspect the element but for the life of me I can't find where this is set in my style-sheet's. I will keep looking.

Lost some navigation buttons - anybody seen them?

Not sure when or how, but I have just noticed I have lost some navigation buttons at the bottom of the table when I view my Dayfile table: http://www.menstonweather.co.uk/datasummary.php This does seem to only happen when viewing in Chrome on a desktop. They appear "sort of" ok when viewed in Edge &...

Re: Restarting after power outage

No scientific proof of this but I think a wifi connection may be better. Long story short, having recently moved into a new (to me) house, was having regular power outages (1-2 times several evenings a week) which I thought was due to faulty outside lights (turned out to be a faulty oven). Anyway, P...

Dark Sky API

Been looking at updating my forecast page as it looks like the free Meteorologica maps have stopped working. Found an app on IOS called Dark Sky and they also do an API (https://developer.forecast.io) to integrate onto your own website. The first 1000 API calls per day are free and then charged at $...

Re: Replacing Netbook with Raspberry Pi

Hi Browse,

I have transferred over to running CumulusMX from an RPi2 but I didn't use IoT in the end, I am running it on Debian. I found other ways of doing the backups not using the RPi.
I think there are a few posts elsewhere on here from people who run on IoT.

Thank you for your patient explanation Steve. I've totally got the process wrapped around my neck! I understand it now so will have another go at it.

Re: Dayfile.txt uploading to a web server via FTP?

Thanks Steve & Mark. Steve, it was from the info about Custom HTTP calls on the CumulusMX internet settings option: "Custom HTTP call - at rollover A custom HTTP URL to be invoked just before end of day rollover - can include webtags" and also in the Custom Upload in the CumulusMX MySQL settings: "C...

Re: Dayfile.txt uploading to a web server via FTP?

Thanks Steve, very much appreciated. I am using the same schema, but I will re-read as I couldn't figure out how I could do this at a specified time, i.e. I upload the dayfile at 00:15 and then update the MySQL server a few minutes later at 00:30. These options only seemed to allow it to happen just...

Re: Dayfile.txt uploading to a web server via FTP?

It's probably my understanding of how this is meant to work Steve! I was playing around with it the other day (when I caused my issue with the port number hanging CumulusMX), but it didn't seem to do anything to the MySQL server that was running on my website. To help my understanding, the MySQL tha...

Re: Dayfile.txt uploading to a web server via FTP?

As an extension of this original request, I was also running toolbox to copy the dayfile to my webserver. I have now created a script to upload it using cron from my raspberry pi, but is there a clever way to also update the MySQL server that I have running on my webserver with the contents of the d...
