Re: Still no email notifications

Thanks freddie. Very frustrating given I've been receiving emails since I first joined in 2009. Why do these ISPs suddenly decide to change the rules? :bash:

Still no email notifications

I'm still not receiving email notifications for topics I'm subscribed to. ISP is BT. Am I alone in having this problem?

Re: hi do i need this

Hi dazza. I have it as a friend was able to buy it on a trip to the US and the price was much lower than we would pay here. For UK climate I wouldn't say it's necessary.

Re: Signature Banner & Chrome

It has nothing to do with the EU or any laws, this is down to the WWW evolving. It is the same for everybody around the world. This quote from Mozilla / Firefox themselves: The future of the web is HTTPS-Only Once HTTPS becomes even more widely supported by websites than it is today, we expect it w...

Re: Signature Banner & Chrome

Unfortunately Ray, this has been coming for a long time. Eventually, all browsers will be https only. It's not that difficult to install an SSL certificate, and you can get them for free. One day maybe but why do weather sites have to have security like this. I thought once we’re out of the EU this...

Re: Signature Banner & Chrome

This was my point Ray, it isn't visible using Chrome! As you can see from this screenshot! Geoff, why bother with Chrome when it’s so restrictive? It’s a weather banner. If a browser blocks it then it’s not fit for purpose. No way should you have to make it a secure https site. Not for weather. I d...

Re: Signature Banner & Chrome

That's because your whole site is http. Once you have upgraded a site to https then any insecure http links or images (eg banner) remaining will not be shown in Chrome and warnings shown in Firefox. I’ll never change to https. It’s a weather site, not a bank. If Chrome won’t show something as innoc...

Re: Signature Banner & Chrome

I'm still using a standard http address for my banner and it seems to work okay. All banners visible using Firefox 84.0.1 on Windows 10.

Re: Barometer Watch

Hi Andy, I wouldn’t expect the CIs to have comparable readings. The worst winter lows always track further north. Scotland should have higher variations. To record the greatest pressure range a process would have to run every few minutes and read backwards to the same time yesterday, calculate the d...

Re: Barometer Watch

And my top 15 greatest pressure changes. The problem using the Min and Max readings it doesn't capture the greatest change over a 24 hour period. I'm sure Steve must have thought about this but maybe too complex for the number of times it would be of interest. Microsoft Access still very useful when...

Re: Barometer Watch

Like Hans I'm curious why Cortmalaw has shown a three day graph when we're all talking about the greatest pressure change in 24 hours.

Looking at his graph the greatest change appears to be between 06:00 on the 26th to 06:00 on the 27th. 1015 down to 973 = 42hPa.

Re: Barometer Watch

How would you define the record... a) The greatest change within any sliding 24 hour period window, or b) The greatest change over a sliding 24 hour period (ie, fixed start/end times 24 hours apart). I think the former? I agree Mark, a sliding 24 hour window which allows the user to define the poin...
