HI Steve
Thanks for the fast reply!
I'll change the batteries (once it stops raining!) - and will follow your procedure to set up the new version
Does the 'anti-spike' feature need to be user-configured ?
Thanks
Adrian

Spikes!
HI Folks Been away from the forum for a while - my W8681 has recently started producing silly 'spike' readings - temperature / rainfall (over 350 inches one day!) - and suchlike. Did I see mention somewhere that the latest version of Cumulus has a 'numpty-filter' to kill off these silly readings ? I...

Re: Analysing historical data ?
Hi Thanks for your reply. My question was about extracting the historical data from Cumulus - what I'm going to do with that data is my concern. I get the impression from your posting history on this forum that you're simply looking for an argument, yet again. Sorry - but I've got better things to d...

Re: Analysing historical data ?
Not sure what you are expecting to be able to determine from hostorical data when the thing hasn't been constructed yet! And, even when it is built, you won;t be seeing any adverse effects on wind speed, direction or absence of wind (unless, of course, the thing is 100 metres wide and built of soli...

Re: Analysing historical data ?
HI Steve
I guess a general trend for prevailing wind direction would be a start.....
'spose the next thing would be an average wind-speed, though I can see that being more difficult...
Do these figures get logged on a daily basis ?
Thanks
Adrian

Analysing historical data ?
HI Folks A bit of an odd request - but the fellow at the factory across the road wants to put up a 43m-tall wind turbine about 200m away from our house (in the centre of a beautifully-unspoilt part of rural Ireland) - my neighbours and I are looking for 'ammunition' for the planning objection. It oc...

Re: Duff temperature data - how / where to edit?
Look in the wiki. There is a data editor available designed specially for this sort of purpose. HAPPY NEW YEAR Hi again Gina / folks OK - making some progress. Managed to download the Toolbox. My weather station's connected to another PC on this network, toolkbox refused to run on that PC. However,...

Re: Duff temperature data - how / where to edit?
Hi Gina
Thanks - I looked in the Wiki before posting... <g> -
and couldn't find what I was looking for...
but searching for 'editor' turned up the reference to Toolbox...
I'll have a play!
Thanks

Duff temperature data - how / where to edit?
Hi Folks Sorry to ask again - but is there a 'noddy' guide on hand-editing duff data that the Watson box has fed to Cumulus ? I was prepared to live with the max rainfall per hour of 4,000+ inches per hour <g> - but the current sillyness with temperature (max temp 59c, min temp -39c within 2 hours o...

Re: Odd 'spikes' in temperature, rainfall and wind speed ?
HI Steve Thanks for the reply. I'm intrigued by your comment 'these stations are prone to spikes' Has anybody ever done any research to find out what's going on here - are we talking actual misreading of analogue data - or (perhaps more likely) a corruption of the data either in transit from the sen...

Odd 'spikes' in temperature, rainfall and wind speed ?
HI Folks Been seeing some odd figures recently with my cheapie Watson weather station - today at about 12 noon Cumulus logged 4500 incles of rain (!!) at the same time as the outdoor temperature plummeted to -41c and 375 inches of rain was recorded. On the 25th October the system thinks it logged an...

negative rainfall rate
Hi folks Here's an interesting one (maybe) Watson weather station, Cumulus - http://www.ambquality.co.uk/weather/trends.htm - records a period of negative rainfall (huh ??) this afternoon at about 5pm. Looking out of the window, it's definitely 'positive' rainfall - where would I go about 'knobbling...

Re: Dodgy data !
HI Steve Grand =- many thanks! Being _really_ picky <g> - it'd be nice if the date / time formats were the same in both files - then it'd be a simple copy/paste frmo one file to the other to restore the values.... ...but hopefully it's not going to be necessary all that often.... Thanks again Adrian

Re: Dodgy data !
HI Steve Before I could get round to sorting the windchill data, I seem to have had another hiccup.... All-time wind gust is now showing 101mph and all-time high rain rate is also 3.48in/hr - both about the same time on the same day. Presubably I need to knobble the offending data in the dayfile.txt...

Re: Dodgy data !
HI Folks Well - this has been a useful exercise. Not only did I learn how to do 'virtual desktop' remote access on the PC that's linked to the weather station (which is a great asset) - I've also _nearly_ sorted out Cumulus's off max / min reports. The one that's defeating me is the max windchill te...
