b3269 - mono error preventing running

I just updated from b3245 (Jun 2023) to b3269 (Dec 2023) by replacing the directory then copying in the /data, /backup, Cumulus.ini and twitter.txt as usual. In the version commentary in the wiki, I don't see any need to go via intervening versions, or any mention of manual steos required. But b3269...

Re: Bresser stations

That'll be the Froggit stuff on Amazon that you're looking at? Stuff sold by Amazon, or sold by another retailer and fulfilled (posted) by Amazon from an Amazon depot, can be sent to the UK. A minority of retailers just use Amazon as a 'shopfront' and handle dispatch themselves - they set their own ...

Re: Bresser stations

Agreed. But a (perceived) problem with Ecowitt is the need to order from China, though the company is very helpful. The same physical hardware kit is available with different branding "Sainlogic" on amazon, which is faster and more reliable, though the range is more limited and need to be ...

Re: Instructions: Installing CumulusMX on Raspberry Pi

You haven't really told us enough about your setup. The Davis and CumulusMX running on an RPi on your local network makes sense. But where is 'my webpage' running/hosted? Where is 'my server' running/hosted? And on what machine is the cron job running? I get the impression that at least some of thes...

Re: Hitchhiking with the Airlink interface of CMX

Thanks for the great introduction - I need to get more into this, had no idea there was so much easily available and cheaply! I had thought the discussion was mainly about PM but guess it would be good to put together a full array for wide-ranging air quaity measurement. I can feel a project coming ...

Re: Hoping someone can help with reporting issue

Without a password, someone else could be (accidentally or maliciously) sending uploads to the same 'station'. Maybe try getting a new station ID and see if that fixes it - won't link your old data, but might help identify the problem. I hope no-one on here trashes yours, Ray - or did you obfuscate ...

Re: GW1003 has arrived

I don't have a GW1003 or the receiver that you are accessing, but I think you are right that it has no logger (strange omission from a wonderful device). Which reminds me of another topic for our off-topic chat. I've always advised people to set a cron job to do a daily reboot, to ensure thangs get ...

Re: GW1003 has arrived

I've just moved the SD card into a Pi Zero That's interesting! A couple of years back, I got pulled up over my 'how to install Cumulus on a Raspberry Pi' instructions for suggesting that one could build the SD card on a faster Pi then switch it to a Pi Zero. That used to work, then they'd made enou...

Re: GW1003 has arrived

Great!

If you have something accurate to use, I would probably calibrate - but most of us amateurs don't have!

Pi4 is way over-powered by the way - Pi Zero W is sufficient as there's no number-crunching going on!

Re: Sudden crash of MX out of the blue.

Odd - these show the same crash details (which I don't understand), but they appear after different commands (one after 'SendLoopCommand', the other after 'writing today.ini'

For Sale - Spare parts - Fine Offset sensors

I have a load of Fine Offset sensors and structural parts that I can sell. Basically , 2 complete setups except as below. Never been installed - were bought as spares after I lost a wind sensor to golf-ball-sized hailstones, and then when Maplin were closing down, and never needed them, such is how ...

Re: Instructions: Installing CumulusMX on Raspberry Pi

Plug your USB weather station into the Raspberry Pi – USB cable into the OTG connector (probably via an adaptor lead) if using Raspberry Pi Zero W. Fine Offset station output USB A so just use a standard USB A to Micro USB same as a Zero power lead Thanks for that - I should have realised that woul...

Re: Instructions: Installing CumulusMX on Raspberry Pi

For your second problem (absent gauges), I don't know. It depends how your website (which we know nothing about?) gets its data. Maybe you simply haven't told CumulusMX to upload the data, or not to the right place, or got a password wrong?

Re: Instructions: Installing CumulusMX on Raspberry Pi

The behaviour you describe is normal. You start Cumulus; it runs until you either press Ctrl-C in Putty to interrupt it (then you will get the command prompt back) or close Putty (when all running programs will stop). What you need to do is set CumulusMX to run in the background - that's covered lat...
