Re: Cumulus MX stopping on Rpi ?

Need to take this slow and steady - I fear you're getting confused. A blank SD card in a Raspberry Pi will do absolutely nothing. So I think you mean a newly created card - but what did you put on it? The default username is pi and default password is raspberry Not the other way round! Windows will ...

Funny how it was for just one observation, and all these issues (old sensor and new) only started after I installed a fresh battery (they last 14 months).
I presume you've checked it's not all due to a dodgy battery?

    Re: webtag #ProgramUpTime

Stacks overflow. Dynamic memory allocation gets out of hand. Indices extend and overwrite data. Power glitches corrupt RAM content.
Yes, I know it shouldn't happen, but it does.

Best practice is to always schedule occasional system reboots. They can avoid all sorts of odd problems like this ...

    Re: Feature Requests

I've read your messages several times, but just get increasingly confused what you are requesting. You say the relationship is linear. If that's the case, then Mark's offer to simply add offset and multiplier (as for other measurements) would be a perfect fix. If it's not linear and it's as messy as...

    Re: I'll bet there's something I'm missing!

Check cumulus.ini in the Directory you created that under "Station" you have an entry "Port=x" where x is your connected USB port. Two things wrong here. First, for CumulusMX, this file was renamed from cumulus.ini to Cumulus.ini (ie starts with an upper case C in MX). Did you rename the file when ...

Re: Instructions: Installing CumulusMX on Raspberry Pi

I'm glad my instructions helped (or maybe ... led you to different problems) Locales are a foreign topic to me (sorry - bad pun!) as I'm in en-GB and everything just works. First, remember that locales are not just about 'short date format' - they also control for example the decimal and thousands s...

    Re: Data Errors

It wouldn't be too bad if I could run both side-by-side so that if the MX gets upset at least I won;t have lost any data :D. VP is an option, but that's another set of steps! I suppose at the worst one could lose a few hours of data if one had to revert back..... My simple Maplin weather stat...

@experimentor: you got me to a tool which is new to me. Interesting! But very suspicious that you do not see meteorology among their fields of solutions. I am looking forward to your results of the experiment. Well, I had to rise to my own challenge! Ignoring the warnings above, I started with 6 ye...

It means there is a long queue but it might happen. Mark Crossley, the moderator, is your guy who is kindly making changes and he seems to read all the posts most days. He has a list of things of his own that he wants to attend to, but if you post your suggestions here, one of them might just catch ...

    Re: WMR928NX

The diags file shows something similar: most of the time data seems to be received smoothly, then there are several pauses with message "Data input appears to have stopped" before restarting after a couple of seconds. One place that I saw had a different message "WS Client Disconnected". I would sta...

Learn to use a little SSH (via PuTTY) when you do. It's exactly the same as the BASH command line but done from the comfort of your PC (and you can Copy/Paste instead of re-typing things). My thread https://cumulus.hosiene.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=16931 goes through complete RPi setup using SSH. Y...

    Re: Data Errors

A big advantage of CumulusMX is that it will run on a Raspberry Pi Zero W - my system consumes exactly 0.19A at 5.16V = 0.9804W x 8768 hours per year = 8.6 kWh = £1.30/year. {calculation corrected after Ray's post below} Compared to leaving a PC switched on 24/7, that is a huge saving in energy cons...

I'm not quite sure why, but I'm worried you might have a corrupted or failing SD card.
Make a backup while you can.
