I've just found out the hard way that if the little magnet in the rain gauge isn't fully seated, it can scrape on the plastic "wall", stop the bucket from fully tipping, and hang up the whole station until it's reset.

I had one of those Aercus systems and after two weeks the radio link became hopelessly unreliable. Apparently the Delphi runtime (or Windows) reports that error for all kinds of issues, so it's very hard to say exactly what the problem is.
