Welcome to the Cumulus Support forum.
Latest Cumulus MX V4 release 4.0.1 (build 4023) - 16 May 2024
(Note that 4.1.0 (build 4024) - 05 June 2024 remains available, but usage of this version is not recommended - particularly for Davis stations - and the included utility in this distribution for migrating to v4 is known to contain errors affecting conversion of dayfile.txt)
Latest Cumulus MX V3 release 3.28.6 (build 3283) - 21 March 2024
Legacy Cumulus 1 release 1.9.4 (build 1099) - 28 November 2014
(a patch is available for 1.9.4 build 1099 that extends the date range of drop-down menus to 2030)

Re: Raspberry Pi, and an Instromet logger - USB/ serial adap
Steve as promised I have been experimenting with CumulusMX, Pi and Instromet unfortunately with little success. I downloaded Raspbian and mono onto the NEW PI just in case I had corrupted the files when copying the SD card between NEW & OLD. The comms error seems to have been sorted so maybe the...

Re: Raspberry Pi, and an Instromet logger - USB/ serial adap
Indeed yes, I did the insertion/removal 'test' this morning and received ttyUSB0 when inserted and it disappeared when removed.
I will move the original unit from the Fine Offset and just see what actually happens, if anything.

Re: Raspberry Pi, and an Instromet logger - USB/ serial adap
Do you still have a copy of 3032 to try? Have you done any updates on your Pi? What version of Mono are you currently using? Thanks Steve once again. Yes I believe I do have a copy of 3032. As for the PI update, yes and no. I did buy another Pi so that I could devote 1 to my FineOffset for experime...

Re: Raspberry Pi, and an Instromet logger - USB/ serial adap
Cheers Steve, well I have rebooted the Pi and disconnected the serial/USB connection to no avail. Exactly the same report back. I reconnected the Instromet to a Windows 7 PC running Cumulus 1 with no problems they talked straight away. This morning I downloaded and fired up MX3034 and unfortunately ...

Re: Raspberry Pi, and an Instromet logger - USB/ serial adap
Hello Steve, I have downloaded and run MX version 3033 this morning and tried once again to connect to my Instromet system.
Unfortunately I am still having a problem for which I have attached the MXdiags file.
Thank you
Dave

Cheers Steve and one step at a time is progress and that is what a Beta test is all about.
Thank you for the prompt reply.

Re: Raspberry Pi, and an Instromet logger - USB/ serial adap
Hi again Steve, I have downloaded and installed MX version 3032 but unfortunately I seem to be having the same problem of an invalid checksum with my Instromet.
I have attached a couple of MXdiags files for your perusal.
many thanks

Re: Raspberry Pi, and an Instromet logger - USB/ serial adap
How wrong I was! A flashing data light was not telling the whole story. I can't seem to 'Turn on debug logging and data logging by editing Cumulus.ini' as I can't find them on that file Steve. I have attached a copy for you, I am probably text blind! I have attached some relevant MXdiags files which...

Re: Raspberry Pi, and an Instromet logger - USB/ serial adap
Many thanks for the offer Steve but I may have solved it. I did a complete upgrade of the Pi software and there now seems to be signs of data flow. It takes the Instromet logger an inordinate amount of time to download historical stuff but I am 'confident' it may be working. If not I will do as you ...

Re: Raspberry Pi, and an Instromet logger - USB/ serial adap
Hi Steve, yes I can confirm that is exactly what I entered after having read up on the Forum.
I was just assuming, possibly wrongly, that the Pi driver was incorrect for the adaptor.
My Linux/Pi programming experience is almost zero.
Thanks for the reply.

Raspberry Pi, and an Instromet logger - USB/ serial adaptor
Hi, After 4 days of playing I am in dire need of some assistance. I am in the process of getting my Instromet weather logger working with CumulusMX and a Raspberry Pi Model B + I have test run the Pi and a Fine Offset weather station and managed to get that combination to work without a problem. I h...

Re: Dayfile.txt uploading to a web server via FTP?
Many thanks Steve once again and Karv for your help. I had, in my searches, come across that site and had tried to use that script but had failed. They often say it can be the simpler things that trip you up and in this case, to a Linux and Raspberry Pi rookie, it was. I has assumed that as my test ...
