Re: Installing and running without a web server

Open the pod bay doors, HAL. That was easy! I wish MS had been as easy! Average temps and rainfall. Done. Wind speed max reduced to 20 mph, 10 divisions. Done. About 30 years ago, when I lived in an open area in Maryland and experienced normal wind speeds, I bought a Texas Weather Instruments Weathe...

Re: Installing and running without a web server

Hans, This is pretty good stuff. It took all of five minutes to change the wind rose wind speeds to a max of 30 mph and ten divisions. I'll probably change it to a max of 20 mph to get even more detail from the charts. As I said, if there is ever a reason to go with a higher wind max, it is easy eno...

Re: Installing and running without a web server

Hans, it looks like you anticipated the wind speed variations, so this change should be simple. Since I have a lot of processing power on my web server I will probably set the WindRoseNrOfWindforceClasses to 8 or 10 (more color definitions required for 10?) and the WindRoseMaxWindSpeed=40, or even l...

Re: Installing and running without a web server

Oh! That was easy. Port 80 is the default listening port for a web host (I believe?); I forwarded it in the modem (also router in this case) and it worked. Instantly. I thought I had opened it earlier, but not. Thank you for this. But that brings up another concern, that of security. This web server...

Re: Installing and running without a web server

Moving forward: I would like to get to my website from outside my LAN without a registered host address and there are various thoughts out there about whether this can happen. I have not been able to do this over my phone with WiFi turned off, going via mobile. All I get when I enter the WAN IP addr...

Re: Installing and running without a web server

Progress. Yesterday I got it running locally in the LAN by simply going to the local IP address from a browser in another device. It looks good and consistently works, with real-time updates every few seconds. It could have been running a lot sooner, but I was bumbling through IT areas about which I...

Re: Installing and running without a web server

Moving forward, I resurrected an old W10 laptop, but discovered it was dead and spent a day or two diagnosing that. I finally was able to reimage the SSD (the boot partition was cleared for some unknown reason) and am now setting it up the way I like it. Step 2 I will start fiddling with web server ...

Re: Installing and running without a web server

Thanks to all for your suggestions. At 78, new skills come slowly and don't hang around long unless really drilled in. So I will probably take the more direct route that will include running on a Windows machine, initially the desktop CMX is running on and, if I go public, eventually on an old Windo...

Installing and running without a web server

Can this be done? I installed CumulusUtils on my desktop server where C(MX) has been running for years but want to test functionality before committing to a host server, if ever I do, as I am mostly interested in using CUtlils for my own purposes. Plus, my desktop contains all my jewels and I'm not ...

Re: Wind Run

Thank you. What I was really looking for is just what the "period of time" is on the Cumulus MX reports. I presume it is 24 hours, and my rollover is at midnight. Since the Cumulus MX gauges appear to be non-configurable, I am taking them as presented. But Mapantz, you state that it can be...

Re: Wind Run

I know this thread is a bit old, but it appears to be the best place to ask this question. From what I can tell here, Wind Run appears to be the total distance over 24 hours. But is that exactly right? Does it reset at midnight or is it a moving total over the last 24 hours? The Cumulus Wiki has an ...

Re: Cumulus stops working Window 10

Mark (and all), thanks for all the effort. Cumulus MX is a nice looking app. The visuals alone are worth the price of admission! I have no reason to believe that I should not now replace the old C1 with MX. In any case I will leave it running; next thing is to look through the various Wikis and lear...

Re: Cumulus stops working Window 10

Mark, there may not be a problem with CMX. The problem appears to be with WU. The attached log reflects this morning's activities: I turned on logging and started up CMX for the second time this morning at 8:22 AM. 08:24:15.341 CMX sent in a single archive record, normal because I had run CMX a few ...

Re: Cumulus stops working Window 10

Mark, here it is! FTPlogging=1 on the last log and zipped .
But it looks like you want the folder. Sorry. Here goes.
I try again below.

Re: Cumulus stops working Window 10

It's a beautiful interface. But... After the initial catch-up loading the WU archives it no longer updates Wunderground. After the last "WU Response: OK OK" and "End of WU archive upload", the log tells me "!!! loop data not received, bytes received = 0" and Wundergroun...
