I'm looked at the Raspberry Pi but still don't know enough about setting it up to comfortable going that route. Not ruling a Pi out, though.
Another thought would be to load Linux on the laptop...I've ran Mint before and it seems very user friendly.

Re: Standing at the precipice...
Thanks to both of you for helping out on this. Yep, running XP on that little ol' computer...the operating system has been as solid as Cumulus has. I'm not even sure the computer could run WIN7...probably could, though. But, that opens up another can of worms. Maybe I'll just ride v1 for a while lon...

Standing at the precipice...
It doesn't seem like it but I set up my little weather station 6-1/2 years ago on a little $75 Dell D610 that I bought off of eBay. Running a Davis VP2 (eventually a "Plus" model...stupid me ended up buying the "plus" later on...$$$). Anyhow, I selected Cumulus for my software an...

Re: Thank you, Steve for 15 years of support
Wow, wow, wow. I set up my little ol' weather station down here in south Alabama going on six years ago. I couldn't of done it without the patience of Steve and his help (along with others, of course), but Steve was the guy that actually got me up and running. Cumulus has been up and running since t...

Re: It's too danged dependable!!!!!!
Just checking back in and saw your message Paul. We had a good Christmas...had the daughters and granddaughters here so we were good. Oh yea, a SIL was present, too. ;) Yes, the forum, both here and Wxforum.com, are both great resources for anyone interested in delving into weather stations and webs...

It's too danged dependable!!!!!!
Ok, I've got a serious problem... I'm running Cumulus v1.9.4 1079 along with Ken's Saratoga templates and have been for the last 3-1/2 years. http://www.beeweather.com runs on an old 10-year old Dell D610 laptop...it sends info on to several other weather-reporting websites. It simply chugs along, d...

Re: Odd, "station not reporting" error message...
Yelp, rebooting without shutting down Cumulus first I would think is not good. I haven't looked but hopefully my data isn't mussed up to bad. I tried shutting down Cumulus through Start Watch but once it got to the "...this may take several minutes" screen on Cumulus it just hang for a per...

Odd, "station not reporting" error message...
I walked through this afternoon and spotted a screen up on the Cumulus station's laptop. It's probably been a month or two since I had been on the laptop so I walked over and the error light was blinking. Seems it was giving me a "station not reporting". I caught it about 10 minutes after ...

Filezilla no longer supports Windows XP...
Ok, I thought I'd put a note out here with the issue of Filezilla not working with Windows XP anymore in the subject line. Last night during my "chat" with Godaddy regarding a ftp outage, the tech told me that Filezilla no longer works with Windows XP. I am running v3.8.0 of Filezilla and ...

Re: Cumulus Virus????
Thanks for the feedback, guys. I was hoping I wasn't stepping to far out of line with my rant. :) Though there's only been two replies so far, it looks like the post has gotten several views. I think people should not have to be forced into paying their own way. People should feel compelled to pay t...
