Re: solar & uv sensor
Ok, thanks i'll give it a try and see what happens. Don't expect instant readings. Usually takes around 60 seconds to get a reading from both of those sensors after they're plugged into the ISS. The UV & Solar sensors only update every minute, which is the normal update interval for these units.

Re: Davis Vantage Vue Anemometer Sticking
I have posted this before, but to refresh those who are new to Cumulus, putting a dog flea collar around the pole below the unit, be it the anemometer or the whole outdoor unit will almost stop the spider problem. I have used them for over 6 months & have had no spider problems at all, but I did...

Windows XP support to end.
Microsoft has announced it will discontinuing support & security updates for Windows XP from the 8th April 2014. Therefore it may be time for XP users to start thinking about a new operating system for their XP computers. Without support & security updates XP will become very vulnerable to c...

Re: New
I preferred the old Cumulus symbol, at least it was descriptive of weather & what one would expect to see at a weather forum. The new one could be anything, even a chemical factory.

Re: Difference in rainfall on console vs. Cumulus via Envoy
It sounds to me like you didn't have the Envoy set to the correct value for your rain gauge previously, i.e. 0.2mm if you have installed the metric adaptor. That would account for a value of 0.3mm, if it was set to 0.01 inches per tip previously. Just as was the case with the original poster in thi...

Re: Best way to preserve data for a few days outage
Also when your power is restored & everything is up & running again, make sure you open Cumulus first so that it can get the stored data from the station before you reset the logger interval back to the setting you were originally using.

Re: What are the odds on this?
I do have to smile at you guys complaining about how hot it is. Where I am in Australia we occasionally reach 26 in the middle of winter & of course over 40 on some summer days. The lowest temp I have had this winter is 4.8. Occasionally we get a frost. But I suppose you adjust to the temp where...

Re: Differences in Graphical Wind Display
You could check to see if the anemometer wind cups do spin easily & are not being restricted by cob webs or something else. Cob webs can & do slow down the wind cups & they can build up very quickly. I was surprised to have that problem within a few weeks of installing my new station. I ...

Re: Vantage Vue wind reading increments
As far as I know Davis stations read wind speed in increments of 1 mph & do a conversion to kph which equates to 1.6 kmh. Software such as Cumulus do report readings in 0.1 kph as long as you don't have it set to round wind speeds, in which case it will read in 1 kph readings. WeatherLink report...

Re: Differences in Graphical Wind Display
Wind speeds vary enormously even when located reasonably close to each other. Topography, tree lines & siting of the anemometer in relation to the ground as well as how close it may be to the roof line etc. etc. etc.. Comparing wind speeds is probably a futile exercise unless both anemometers ar...

Re: VP2 Archive interval
Hello, Please excuse what might be a dumb question but by the term "Archive Interval" do you mean the interval between successive transferring of information from the VP2 console to the PC? Does this interval related directly to the "Data Log Interval" on the "Station Setti...

Re: Installation Tips
No such problems here for the last couple of months with a VP2 purchased in April 2009 and updated to 3.12 under XP. Are you running XP or Win7? I am running Win 7 Home Premium. However I have seen quite a few posts on various sites mentioning problems with v3.12 & VVP, so I thought I would men...

Re: Installation Tips
Just a note of caution.
I have heard that there are problems trying to use VVP with Davis VP2 consoles that have v3.12 software installed, which probably applies to all the latest ones. I certainly could not get it to work on mine.

Re: Vantage Vue Lost Connection to Station
So far so good! Yeah I suspected it had to be the connection between the console and the PC when I heard the USB disconnect sound. The cable they shipped with the Data Logger has an unshielded connection on it, so it may have been possible that the RF from the cluster of electronics was causing pro...
